I love you...a bushel and a peck...

I love you a bushel and peck
A bushel and peck and a hug around the neck
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap
A barrel and a heap and I'm talking in my sleep
About you

This was our song of the summer...we sang it all the time and I would tickle the girls at the end...so we normally sang it four times in a row so that each girl would get tickled! I loved it...I can still hear Greta's four year old voice singing it missing a few words here and there.

So...summer is over. My last day was today and boy did Greta want to make it memorable! We did EVERYTHING. First we had a tea party, complete with pretzels, Ritz Crackers, M&M's and of course Pink Lemonade "tea." Then played Pretty Pretty Princess, then made slime-turquise colored...all three girls favorite! Then we watched Jungle Book 2. Of course had chicken nuggets for lunch (can't tell you how many times i have made those the last three months). All in all it was a great day. Both girls were in good moods which made it easy to enjoy.
(I will post pictures of our day later, left my camera cord at home)

It was hard and sad to say goodbye...we have had so much fun this summer and made so many memories. I definitely look forward to seeing them soon...*hint*hint (come to San Diego! :)

Now I am already back at school and gearing up for the next job. All my boxes of tricks and fun are packed up for the summer and the boxes of school stuff will (soon be) unpacked. Can not believe that summer is over. It was fun while it lasted.

Mamma Mia

Yesterday was oh so much fun. We made our own homemade pizzas for lunch! The girls absolutely loved making everything from scratch and getting to knead their own dough and put their own toppings on their pizzas and then eat their creations in the end. It was very fun! They all took turns adding the flour and mixing the dough and everything else that making a pizza from scratch entails. It was messy and slimy and nasty, but it was fun! And the pizza...DELICIOUS! I'm considering making it again tomorrow...we'll see.

Today was my last day with all of the girls. We just hung out, watched tv, made slime, and did what we do best...be silly! It was so weird and sad that it was it for the summer, the big girls go back to school in the morning. But I get to spend tomorrow with the little ones.

There's a cute story behind this one... :)

She was staring at herself in the mirror laughing at herself...I got a laugh out of it!

These two were just sitting so quietly watching tv oblivious to what I was doing...so I put whipped cream on their noses...they weren't really sure what to do!

Little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice!

Well...they were definitely made of sugar last Thursday all thanks to me. We made cinnamon rolls in the morning and vanishing rolls for after lunch. So basically our diets consisted of: butter, bread, sugar, cinnamon and marshmallows! They were both yummy treats!

Today we played with water balloons for a bit. The girls made up a few games to play with them and we all ended up having to change our clothes by the time we were done. I think I have filled up close to 50 water balloons in the last 24 hours. Needless to say my left pointer finger is a little sore from tying all of them. After water balloons, the girls decided they wanted their nails painted. This is was the result of them choosing their own color(s):

It's sad to think that this is the last week with my girlies before summer is over. Half of them will start back to school on Thursday and then I am back a week from Tuesday. Regardless of how many days are left, I guarantee that they are all going to be fun days full of fun stuff. I am excited for tomorrow most of all! Can't reveal what we are doing cause the girls have discovered my blog and will read it and then there will be no surprise for them, but since it is the last week everyday is going to be fun! :)
Gotta make the most of the few, SILLY, SLIMY, SUNNY DAYS OF SUMMER that we have left!

Winter in August

Today was the day that the girls have been waiting for since before I even got home for the summer! Last year it was Winter in July, but due to my missions trip and all of the things that they had going on, we had to bump it to August this year. So 97 degrees outside and in our shorts and t-shirts it was snow day! We made gingerbread houses and decorated them with gum drops and "Mike a Mike's" as Greta called them. We made snowmen from marshmallows and then played with SNOW!! It is so fun to see the girls creativity in decorating their houses and it was fun getting covered in frosting and saving collapsed houses! It was a full sticky day and another day that I left with a sugar rush, but I suppose that is partly my fault!

The snow was pretty much a MESS...but it was oh so fun! The girls were SHOCKED at how much just a little powder and water made and thought it felt so weird when I made it in their hands. They spent a long time digging and creating mountains and tossing it at each other and making basically just a mess...but that's alright, it was clean by the time mom got home!

After playing in the snow the girls asked if I would take their pictures. They loved it!! Giggling and picking new "poses"

So we had winter in August during one of the hottest weeks of the summer so far. The girls were excited and we had fun. Now I just have to figure out what to do with all of the leftover marshmallows!

C is for COOKIES!

Its been a fun filled full week Wednesday I was down to one kid so we went to the mall and rode the Merry Go Round then ended up at the park for lunch.

Today was a fun filled day of giggles and messes. With 5 girls for the day I was trying to think of something to keep us occupied so what better than an all day project of making, baking and decorating cookies. With over a dozen cookies, lots of frosting (of different colors) and lots and lots of sprinkles, we all created masterpieces.

One of my favorite things of the day was when Greta (age 4) told me that the VANILLA flavored frosting that we had used food coloring to turn purple tasted just like GRAPE...Very interesting! :)

We ARE NOT talking about the fact that the summer is almost ending and the girls and I will all go back to school, but I sure am going to miss these little faces!

One of the things that I love the most about my job is the innocence of young kids. I love just listening to them talk and listening to the answers that they come up with to the questions that I ask them. Today I was amused once again, but not amused in a funny haha kind of way, amused in the pure genius of the child's mind. Today after Jorja went home and while Ava was napping, I was talking to Greta (age 4) as I was pushing her on the swing. I was asking simple questions: what she would like to do the rest of the week, if she liked her sisters being gone for the day, what she did while I was on my trip, etc...One thing I asked was when she would be learning to swim without her vest that she wears in the pool. She looked at me and very matter of factly said that she would wear it until she is seven, then she will swim without it. She then went on to tell me that I would be there then. When I asked her WHY I would be there and how she knew she looked at me and said, "well, you already went on your trip. So you will be here when I am seven and I am swimming." I guess in her mind, I went away once, so I will be around forever now! :) Something else she said was when we were talking about painting our nails. She told me that if we were to do that then I would have to clean off what was already painted on hers. She first asked if I new what the stuff was that took off the polish. When I told her I knew what it was she went on to explain: that you take that stuff and you pour it on the white puffy thing that is like a cloud and then you wipe it all over your nails until the color comes off and then you let if dry and then you can put the new color on. Yup, the white puffy thing like a cloud...I love it. Everyday it is a little sad for me to think that the days with these girls are coming to an end for this summer. If there is one thing that I miss when I go to school it is definitely the moments and the conversations spent with these girls. They are what I look forward to everyday and every summer!

"Super Greta"

I have to say that I love my job! :)

Back to Work

After spending 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic it was back to work for me this morning. This week I have two four year olds and the baby so it is crazy fun around the house. I spent the day listening to squeals of laughter as the 2 girls played together and played their various imagination games. It was very cute to watch them interact. We played a game of Pretty Pretty Princess and then went on to finger painting, however, I am pretty sure that more of the paint ended up on the girls than on the paper.
It was really good to be back with the girls. 2 weeks away was so sad and long and I missed them a ton. We have been plans for the rest of the week including probably some goo, cookie decorating and whatever else I come up with to keep the girlies occupied...Good times! :)
